Abstract
Rust Statistics measures every public Rust server on a five-minute refresh interval; the method is shown beside each figure.
Sources and definitions
Rust Statistics uses two sources. The first is Steam's public Rust server list, which supplies server names, player counts, queue lengths and the tags each server publishes. The second is a direct query to each server, which can return map seed, frame rate and entity count. Not every server answers the direct query, so some entries show only the Steam figures. Where a figure is drawn from Steam alone, that limit is stated.
What is recorded
For every public server the site records population, wipe events and settings, and keeps a history of each. Population is the count of connected players reported by the server at the time of the last refresh. A wipe is recorded when the server reports one or when its map or seed changes. Wipe cycles are taken from the server's own schedule where it publishes one. Ranks are computed from population over the past seven days, hour by hour; a server that is busy every day ranks above one that fills for a single evening after a wipe. Lists are ordered by population, never by payment.
Refresh and practical use
All data is refreshed every five minutes. If a figure about your server looks wrong, the usual cause is the server's own settings; a correction appears within one refresh interval. The server directory lists every public server, and live player count explains how population is counted.
Independence and ownership
Rust Statistics is independent and is not affiliated with Facepunch Studios; nothing here is endorsed by them. Server names, descriptions and images belong to the people who run those servers. Questions and corrections go to hello@ruststatistics.org.

Appendix AQuestions
A.1How often is the Rust server data updated?
The public server list and each server's direct query are read on a five-minute refresh interval. A change to a server's settings or population appears within one interval. Figures shown are the last reading, not a running average.
A.2Where does Rust Statistics get its server data?
Two sources: Steam's public Rust server list and a direct query to each server. The Steam list supplies names, player counts, queues and tags. The direct query can return map seed, frame rate and entity count, but not every server answers it, so some entries show Steam figures only.
A.3How are server ranks calculated?
Ranks use population over the past seven days, measured hour by hour. A server that is busy every day ranks above one that fills only for a single evening after a wipe. Lists are ordered by population and are never influenced by payment.
